Moringa leaves are one of the nutrient-dense greens often referred to as a ‘Super Food’, 'Miracle Tree', or ‘Tree of Life.' Moringa contains 7 times more vitamin C than oranges, 10 times more vitamin A than carrots, 17 times more calcium than milk, 9 times more protein than yogurt, 15 times more potassium than bananas, and 25 times more iron than spinach. Moringa leaf soup is an immune booster, it controls blood sugar and blood pressure, it also increases your hemoglobin (energy level), and is my go-to soup for colds and coughs.

Tree of Life Soup (Miracle Soup)

This recipe will make 4-6 bowls of soup.
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

  • 2 cups of fresh moringa leaves (or 1 tablespoon moringa powder)
  • 10 shallots chopped roughly (preferably purple)
  • 1 roma tomato chopped roughly
  • 1 tablespoon shredded coconut/coconut flakes
  • 2-inch ginger crushed
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 2 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 whole cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Celtic salt as needed
  • 32 oz of filtered water
  • 1 tablespoon chickpea flour slurry-dissolve in water before adding (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of coconut milk (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon grapeseed oil (optional)
  • A handful of fresh cilantro chopped

  1. Heat grape seed oil in a stock pot or an instant pot (on saute mode), and add fennel seeds, curry leaves, cayenne pepper, ginger, garlic, onion, and salt. Fry until onions are translucent.
  2. Gently remove the leaves from the stem pulling from top to bottom before cleaning. Add moringa leaves, tomato, turmeric powder, coconut flakes, and water and mix well.
  3. Allow the soup to boil with the lid on for 5-7 minutes on medium-high heat.
  4. Add chickpea flour (before adding to soup, dissolve the flour in some water before adding) to thicken the soup and fresh coconut cream to enhance the flavors and allow it to cook for 2 minutes. Both are optional, you can still enjoy your moringa soup without adding them.
  5. Garnish with fresh cilantro and enjoy your soup.

Call to Action

Hippocrates the father of medicine stated, "Let your food be your medicine and let your medicine be your food." I agree with his statement because 6000 years ago our Heavenly Father, our Creator, and our Great Physician stated in the first book of the Bible what is good for us to eat since He is the one who created the trees with nutrients in them which in turn builds, sustains and heals us (Genesis 1:11 and Genesis 1:29). Also in the last book and the last chapter in the Bible, God states that "the leaves of the tree were for healing of the nations" (Revelation 22:2 KJV).

How great is our Father’s love for us in creating the best foods for us like this miracle moringa tree which has so many benefits. Whatever we eat or drink let us do it for the glory of God.

Thank you so much for this article on the moringa tree. I knew how nutritious it was, and was super excited to get this wonderful recipe. Excellent article!
