This recipe requires only 2 ingredients (spelt flour and warm water). There are 2 other ingredients (salt and oil) that are totally optional.

  • Preparation time = 30 minutes
  • Cooking time = 15-20 minutes
  • Serves =  10-12 piece of flat bread (chapathi)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups spelt flour
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon pink or celtic salt (optional)

Use your finger tips to bring together a rough dough and knead till you get a non sticky dough for about 3 minutes. Use the end of your palm to apply maximum pressure while kneading.
  3. Apply 1 teaspoon of oil on the dough (optional) and cover the dough with a clean damp cloth or a plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into key lime size balls and roll it between your palms until smooth.
  5. Take of ball of dough and sprinkle with flour.
  6. Roll into thin disc of 4-5 inches diameter.
  7. Cook on a preheated cast iron skillet on medium high heat for about a 30 seconds on both sides.
