Get Ready Factoid

What if you gave God the most precious gift imaginable? What is that gift? It’s the gift of time. Now, there are different ways you can give the gift of time to God, but one way, which began at Creation, is to give God the seventh day each week by resting and spending time with Him.

Imagine doing this every week of your life, and after 77 years, you had given God 11 years (1/7 x 77 = 11) of your life by worshiping Him on the seventh day each week—and then God gave you those 11 years back. Sound impossible? It’s not.

Did you know that Seventh-day Adventists in America live 11 years longer (88 vs. 77) than the average American?1 Every seventh day (Saturday), Seventh-day Adventists stop working, rest, and worship their Creator—they give God one day each week, and He gives it back to them with 11 more years of life. Isn’t that amazing!

Resting on the seventh day is not the Jewish Sabbath; it is the Biblical Sabbath, which started at Creation, after God created the world in six days, and then He rested, blessed, and made the seventh day holy.

“And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation” (Genesis 2:2-3 ESV).

Maybe you already cease from your labors on the seventh day of each week, or perhaps you don’t. Why not follow the Biblical example, which began at Creation with resting and worshiping your Creator on the seventh day (Saturday) each week, and share this Bible Truth with others—and invite them to follow the Bible Sabbath.
