In my ignorance, I thought I just had a cough, but God knew better. He used everyone around me, near and far, to heal me.

My friend Andrew first sensed something was wrong. He and his wife came and spent the night doing all types of natural remedies. Other friends, Orville and Samrika from Canada, suggested using an onion poultice on my chest, which opened up my airways, and I was able to talk clearly that night. My friend Bernadette from Tennessee suggested that I take contrast showers using hot and cold water, which stopped the coughing for a while and brought about some relief. I had Simone, a doctor in Upstate New York, who sent a prescription to treat SARS CoV-2 if that was ailing me.

Hermoine, my cousin in Maryland, found out I wasn't feeling well. In passing, she mentioned this to her sister Katia, a doctor; Katia sent a prescription that very night to a 24-hour pharmacy to start treating the symptoms. Then the next morning, Katia left everything — husband, children, and job in Maryland to come and take care of me in New York. Best of all, I had my brothers and sisters in Christ praying for my healing. These friends had also found out I was sick by accident and took it upon themselves to invoke the Lord in prayer on my behalf. These were not isolated incidents. The Lord saw fit that I should live. He moved upon the hearts of friends and loved ones with just what needed to be done at just the right time. I am alive today because God wills it.

Call to Reflection

My faith has been strengthened. I do not walk in fear though fear is all around me. I keep my eyes on Jesus, and I know He is guiding me all the way. God had a specific way to heal Naaman (2 Kings 5:10-14). He had a particular way to heal me, for which I am thankful. He is the Great Healer, among many other things. Jeremiah 17:14 says: “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for Thou art my praise.”
