At Jesus’ birth there were few people awaiting His first coming. The shepherds were some of those people. Priests, rulers, and kings were just living for themselves, they were NOT looking for a saving King to die for their sins. Out of all the people who would have known the Scriptures the best, the priests should have been looking for Him, but they were mostly looking for earthly gain. What a terrible tragedy!

God was not silent at this critical time. He sent a star in the East to arise the curiosity of the wise men. As they studied, they decided to follow the star, and it led them to where the world's Savior was born. Since they followed the star they got the opportunity to see the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in person, face to face.

Now, right before His second coming, few people are ready too. Most people are too busy or disinterested. We are called to be ready, like the shepherds and wise men, and to share Jesus with the world so people can get ready for His second coming. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20 ESV).

Call to Action

We can be assured that Heaven is real. Remember what the Bible says:

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also” (John 14:1-3 ESV).

Jesus IS coming soon, and He wants you, me, and everyone to be with Him for eternity. As we near the second coming of Jesus, let's be like the shepherds and wise men — they were ready and we need to be ready. Will you join me asking for a daily baptism of the Holy Spirit and in getting ready for Jesus’ second coming?

Praying with promises opens God’s treasury for us. Our loving heavenly Father opens an inexhaustible account for us.
