I do not like knocking on strangers’ doors! God bless the colporteurs who enjoy it! I'll do it out of obligation for outreach — when our church does "door knocking" for surveys, or handing out literature, etc. — as I want to lead by example and my sense of duty beckons me, but it is my least favorite thing to do. Can you relate?

Ready for a game changer!?

Imagine giving away copies of The Great Controversy to people that are excited and interested to receive it! This is now possible. I’ll explain.

In the past, when I’ve handed out The Great Controversy — it was like pulling teeth to get people to take this book. Not to mention that it is also my least favorite book to hand out. It is quite large in comparison to an easy to read pamphlet or GLOW tract. People never seemed excited or eager to receive a copy. I've spent time in my local international airport handing out copies of The Great Controversy, and it was very difficult to get passerbys to take a copy. When they did take a copy, I'm sure most ended up in the trash.

Now my experience has changed and here’s why. My twin brother, an evangelist with Amazing Facts, started going door to door using the Amazing Facts COVID Impact Survey with great success in getting The Great Controversy into people's homes. He encouraged me to try it at my dental office. I was reluctant at first. However, I decided to give it a try and I was astonished at how receptive my patients were to participate in the Amazing Facts COVID Impact Survey and receive The Great Controversy.

Concurrently, I was moving, and I started selling and giving away stuff on Facebook Marketplace. I would just post on Facebook for "FREE" and people started coming over. After buying or taking whatever they were looking for, they were usually in a pretty good mood — I had the perfect opportunity to present the Amazing Facts COVID Impact Survey!

I would approach people like this, "Quick COVID survey" (which gets their attention). Then I ask:

  1. On a scale of 1-10, how much does COVID bother you? (I get all kinds of answers from some who have no fear, to others who are quite fearful.)
  2. Because of all the global warming issues, natural disasters, and COVID, did you know that climate advocates and some religious groups are pushing for a universal day of rest? They see that pollution is decreasing because of lockdowns and they think that this will help with our global climate issues (surprisingly — many will reply that they have heard about this).
  3. Would this bother you if the government mandated a universal day of rest? (Surprisingly, the majority tell me that it would not bother them and that they think we need this.)
  4. Did you know that in the Bible it foretells that in the future the government will mandate a universal day of rest? (They almost always reply that they didn't know this.)
  5. If this ever happened, do you think you would remember this conversation that we are having? (They invariably say "YES!")
  6. I hand them The Great Controversy and tell them, "I want to give you this book as a gift — put it on your shelf, you can even let dust collect on it — but if a universal day of rest ever happens — check out this book — as it tells you about how the Bible foretold that this would happen."
  7. Every single time, their response has been AWESOME at best and receptive at worst! They start looking at the book and show genuine interest — unlike most times in the past — when I've handed out a Great Controversy to a stranger! People have told me that they would read this book — this rarely ever happened before!

Call to Action

If you're looking for an EASY/EFFECTIVE way to share literature, I'd HIGHLY recommend trying this out. We all have junk that we can give away or sell, and now is a good time to start simplifying our life anyways! Nothing is better than having people come to your door and walk away with a Great Controversy which could completely change their life — but the best part is that it is so easy, the recipient is happy, and I'm left "eager" for the next person who will be come to my home and receive this incredible book!

I believe it is a combination of the times that we live in and the above approach that makes this Amazing Facts COVID Impact Survey so effective. People are looking for answers and solutions to the problems that the world is facing. I believe that this Amazing Facts COVID Impact Survey approach offers a glimmer of hope in a world of chaos and confusion which lends itself to such a favorable response from the recipient.

May we share this precious present truth while we still have time!
