Some people say that God does not exist. It seems that those who make these statements are often only 20, 30, 40, or 50+ years old—yet they try to judge the existence of a Divine Being who has existed for all eternity! Not only that, but they also try to deny what God Himself created and how it was created. For example, consider Charles Darwin, an evolutionist who claimed that all things arise through natural causes from a common ancestor. However, he failed to consider who created that common ancestor!

Another attempt to deny the existence of God is the theory of the “Big Bang.” Its supporters claim that about 13.8 billion years ago, the universe started as a tiny, dense fireball that exploded. But these scientists again fail to explain who created the tiny, dense fireball and who decided it was time for the explosion to occur!

One scientist claimed that our universe began when a rock the size of a human fist exploded in the sky, and our entire planetary system suddenly appeared. But that scientist was ridiculed by one of his students when he was asked, “And who put the rock up in the sky?” We know that explosions destroy things; they do not create them. How do we know this? Put a stick of dynamite inside a large rock, light it, and watch what happens. The rock is pulverized into many pieces! I think at that moment, the so-called scientist might wish the Earth would open up and swallow him!

When you or I study the Holy Bible to know God and Jesus, His beloved Son, and contemplate His purpose for our lives, we will begin to discover who God is and understand why He desires to be intimately involved in our lives. The reason why God inspired certain authors to write what became the Bible is not to hurt us, lie to us, or get us in trouble with His or human laws, but to have a written record revealing who He is so we can personally know Him and make an informed choice.

Many people say that the Bible cannot be trusted. Should this be surprising? From the opening chapters of the Bible, we see how deceit works. Through a serpent, the devil told Eve that if she ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, she would not die. But she did eat from it, and did she die? Of course, she did! And so did Adam. Why did they die? Because both of them disobeyed God. The condition their Creator had given them was that as long as they stayed away from this tree, and did not touch it or eat of it, they would live eternally. But they went against God’s counsel, and we know the rest of the story. The Bible being untrustworthy is an old deceit from the Devil who would rather have us not believe, read, or value God’s Word.

Call to Action

Let us not be deceived like Adam and Eve were (when they trusted a created being instead of the Creator God). Instead, let us study for ourselves and see what the Creator has to say in His Word. I invite you to get to know Jesus personally. If you have some doubts, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. He will!

"Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth and issued from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band; when I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors; when I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!'"
