I had gotten an impossible dream job, working with excellent teaching professionals on Long Island. I was thanking God and giving Him all the praises for what He had done. (See “Keep the Faith” Part 1). After a short while teaching in this new job, the principal who hired me, Michelle, announced that she would return to full-time teaching. She had only been principal for a very short time but had decided the work was too involved while she had small children at home.
You might be asking, “Where is the miracle in that?” Getting a job as a teacher on Long Island can be very difficult. Nepotism is rampant. If you are not well connected, there is almost zero chance of you landing a job. I believe that God placed Michelle in her new role as a principal that year because He knew I would be applying for a job and was not “well-connected.” Shortly after she hired me, Michelle no longer wanted to continue as principal. What a miracle! God will place people in the right positions at the right moment in order to bring about His purposes and blessings.
I recall the story of Moses found in Exodus chapter two. Moses' mother tried her best to protect him, but when she couldn't any longer, she placed baby Moses in a basket along the river’s edge. At just the right moment, “the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it. And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, ‘This is one of the Hebrews’ children.’ Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, ‘Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?’ And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Go.' So the maiden went and called the child’s mother. Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.’ So the woman took the child and nursed him. And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, ‘Because I drew him out of the water’” (Exodus 2:5-10).
What a mighty God we serve. He will place the right people in positions at just the right moment. He did it for Moses, and He has done it for me.
Call to Action
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 19:26 that the things which are impossible with humankind, are always possible with God. When impossible situations appear at your doorstep, that is the best time for God to work in you, for you, and through you. That way, you know it was Him working things out, and your faith and testimony to His power and love grows.
Pray for God to strengthen your faith in Him.
