Alert! Alert! Presidential revolt!!

There is chaos in the streets. The vice president adamantly calls for a new president, alluding to lying, distortion, lack of justice, being power-hungry, and more by the current administration. An urgent meeting is being called, and all representatives are urged to attend and cast their vote for who should be president.

Over 6,000 years ago, there was a revolt over who should be president! No, it was not in America. No, not another country in the world. This revolt happened in Heaven.

“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

Revelation 12:7-9

Heaven is the capital of the Universe (Isaiah 66:1). There is one God in Heaven, in the persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14). God has always existed. He will always be the King (President) of Heaven and our Universe—He never changes. With freedom, God allows others to rule, both in Heaven and on Earth. He even appoints and removes kings (Daniel 2:21). In Heaven, Satan was asked to carry out God’s wishes and play a prominent and important role in God’s government. Peace and harmony existed until pride filled Satan’s heart, causing a revolt in Heaven.

“For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation. On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’”

Isaiah 14:13-14

Satan didn’t want to be the vice president; he wanted to be equal to God. God allowed Satan to continue his revolt until all the heavenly beings had enough time and the opportunity to “vote” for Satan or God. There were two governmental platforms to choose from. One is God’s government, which is founded on truth. An alternative to this is Satan’s government, which is founded on lies. “…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44 ESV). After patiently waiting for all of the heavenly beings to finalize their choice and cast their vote, Satan and one-third of the holy angels were thrown out of Heaven (Revelation 12:4, Revelation 1:20).

Deceived by the Devil

Amazingly, after Satan’s removal from Heaven, God’s forbearance allowed him to live on, and to continue the controversy between good and evil. This was necessary in order to give the rest of God’s created beings, outside of Heaven, the opportunity to cast their vote for Satan’s government or God’s government. Unfortunately, about 6,000 years ago, Eve cast her vote for Satan’s government because she believed the serpent over God. Adam and Eve were not grounded in God’s truth. Instead, they were deceived by the Devil.

Don’t Be Deceived When You Cast Your Vote

Although you may or may not have cast a vote in the U.S. Presidential election this year, each of us, whether we realize it or not, will cast a vote during our lifetime for God’s government or Satan’s government. It seems obvious where we should cast our vote. But, just like in any earthly presidential election, we should examine their platforms before voting.

Satan’s Government Platform

  1. Deception is critical to success. Satan loves to mix truth with error.1
  2. Self-love is supreme. Beauty and pride corrupted his heart, and he desires the same for his subjects.2
  3. Follow your heart, not your head. He doesn’t want you to think; he wants you to follow your feelings.3
  4. No law. No order. His subjects should be free to be whoever they want to be and do whatever they want. The abolition of any part and/or all of God’s law is central to Satan’s government. He says you can keep most of the law, but not the whole law. If you keep the entire law, he will make war with you.4
  5. Sinning is okay. Don’t believe you can overcome sin. He says you can’t, and that’s okay.5
  6. Counterfeit tactics. Satan lures many to think they’re okay and provides numerous counterfeits to lure people in and destroy them. In the future, Satan will disguise himself as an angel of light—but beware, although he may look angelic, his words counter God’s Holy Word. By this, you will know he is the devil, not an angel of light. Give in to his tactics, and the result is eternal death.6
  7. Blindness is his specialty. Your eyes may be physically open, but you will be made spiritually blind.7

God’s Government Platform

  1. Truth triumphs. God’s Word is the standard by which all must test themselves. When numerous suggestions or opinions abound, thoroughly test each by the Word of God.8
  2. Sacrificial love is supreme. God’s Son died for our sins. God is love, and this is echoed from Genesis to Revelation and through the wonderful things He has made.9
  3. Follow the Spirit, not your heart. You will find joy, peace, and rest for your soul. God speaks through His Holy Word and the Holy Spirit. Talk with God and follow what He says.10
  4. Law and order permeate the Universe; both the animate and inanimate declare infinite levels of rules by which things are governed. God’s law in nature and for His created beings is designed to bless you, not afflict you. Ever wonder where the “7-day” week came from? The 7-day week is God’s creation; on the 7th day, God rested with His children. At the center of God’s law is the 4th commandment, where He invites us to rest with Him each 7th day. 11
  5. Jesus is our mighty Rescuer from this sinful world. He desires to free us from sin. Jesus is the answer to our sin problem. Through the blood of Christ’s selfless sacrifice, He cleanses us. There is only one way out. Through Jesus Christ, you CAN overcome sin.12
  6. Complete loyalty. You cannot serve God and Satan. You cannot follow parts of Satan’s platform and parts of God’s platform. It’s one or the other. Know God. Follow God. Receive eternal life.13
  7. Worship with a surrendered heart. Idol worship of any kind is not allowed because worshiping an idol (e.g., when sports, movies, money making, etc., becomes center stage) pushes away worship from God. An idol is anything in our life that takes precedence over God. Don’t judge yourself by what others do. Ask God what you should do and follow His leading.14

Call to Action: Where Will You Cast Your Vote?

Which platform resonates with you? Does your life align closely with one of these two platforms?

Alert! Alert!! The conclusion of the presidential revolt is almost over. Yes, the great controversy between Christ and Satan, God’s government and Satan’s, is almost over. Unfortunately, there has been chaos in this world because of Satan and his lies. He mixes truth with error, hoping to deceive as many as possible to miss out on eternal life (Galatians 6:7-8 ESV). Don’t be deceived. Consider the platforms for both governments. You cannot be impartial. You cannot follow the platforms of both governments. You have to choose one or the other; if you keep some interests in both platforms, by default, you’re casting your vote for the alternative to God’s government.

Suppose you are following one of the alternatives to God’s government platform. Will you consider switching your vote and telling God you want to follow His entire platform?

Don’t delay. Cast your vote for God’s government. Tell Him you want to be one of His representatives on Earth and that you’re willing to do whatever He wants you to do, at any cost.

Pray daily. Expect big things. God is ready and willing; you just have to ask.

“Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power he can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.”

Ephesians 3:20 (GW)
