On May 4, Denver, Colorado, reached 73 degrees, but by May 6, there was half a foot of snow on the ground! The temperature then rose to 85 degrees on May 14, only to drop 40 degrees four days later to a high of 45. Wow! This spring's temperatures have been quite confusing, with the weather fluctuating wildly between winter and summer.
This faltering between two seasons reminds me of Elijah’s day. “Elijah went before the people and said, 'How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.' But the people said nothing.” (1 Kings 18:21 NIV).

Here, people wavered between following God and Baal, faltering between the true God and a false one. I believe many sought to worship both simultaneously, going back and forth between God and Baal—similar to our world today, where many idols vie for our time and devotion—to distract us from fully following God with all our heart.
Call to Action
God doesn’t want us going back and forth between Him and the false gods of this world. We have to make a choice, and if we continue to falter between God and any idols of this world, we are choosing the other side. God wants 100% of us! “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30 ESV). We are to give 100% to God and not go back and forth like the people in Elijah’s day or like the weather!
