Surrendering is very important for a Christian. Our family has practiced surrendering, but sometimes it is hard! I try to listen to God in the mornings, and sometimes I don’t like what He says. I try to let God take the driver’s seat, even if it’s against what I want to do. God wants us to surrender every morning.

We can learn from Bible stories about people surrendering and how God used them. We can learn about this through the story of Elijah. He surrendered many times, like when he told King Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word” (1 Kings 17:1). It was very bold what he said, but when you surrender God leads. Then God said, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there” (1 Kings 17:3-4). God always takes care of His children when they surrender to His ways.

God also called Moses to surrender to Him. God told Moses to take a big step in surrendering to Him. God chose Moses to lead the children of Israel. He said, “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt” (Exodus 3:10). Wow! It took Moses a lot of surrendering to do it! He was very hesitant, like me, but he surrendered.

Even Jonah surrendered. God had to do something really big for him to surrender (see Jonah 1-3). But he surrendered!

Call to Action

We should surrender today like the Bible characters. It may not be to stand in front of a king, like Elijah, or preach to a sinful city, like Jonah. But God has a mission for all of us!

God is ready and willing to use us. I want to be a part of His work. How about you? Let’s surrender 100% together and see what He will do!

Praying with promises opens God’s treasury for us. Our loving heavenly Father opens an inexhaustible account for us. At the same time, it is important to make a careful distinction between the promises in the Bible. “The spiritual promises—for forgiveness of sin, for the Holy Spirit, for power to do His work—are always...
