"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).
The Word Warrior initiative emerged from a personal revival I recently experienced upon returning to Scripture memory with renewed passion. Here’s the backstory:
A few months ago, I visited a church and noticed a table with free used books. Among them, a Bible promise book titled “Precious Bible Promises” caught my eye. Although I have several similar books at home, I was drawn to this one because of its unique thematic organization and how the verses were arranged. I also appreciated that the verses were in the version I use for memorization. About a fourth of the promises were familiar verses—ones I had memorized in the past. I thought to myself, “These are truly precious promises. It would be wonderful to memorize all of them, or at least the really good ones.”
Rekindled Love for Scripture
I started carrying the book with me, seizing spare moments to review a verse or two. Soon, I found myself spending a significant portion of my morning devotions reflecting on and memorizing these promises. I realized that my mind was much sharper in the morning, making it easier to absorb and retain the verses. Each day, I concentrated on learning new ones while also reviewing those I had previously memorized that had faded over time.

As I contemplated verses organized by specific themes, this practice also transformed into a rich topical study that enhanced my understanding and appreciation of salvation, righteousness, faith, and other subjects. The experience revived my heart and rekindled my love for Scripture. This transformation occurred as I memorized and reflected on the Scriptures throughout the day.
