Sometimes, even in the tiniest of moments, we can experience how BIG God is. In the last year, I experienced something small and simple, yet deeply meaningful—and it reminded me of God’s faithfulness.

For years, I had been wanting to do a bit of a house makeover. Life was busy and draining, with lots of pressing distractions, and I never had the time, money, or energy to pursue the dream.

But the time did come. Through strange and unexpected circumstances, the Lord helped me to do all of the Pinterest and internet research to figure out the most economical plan to give my home a facelift. I would do 95% of it myself.

How fun it was working on the plans and ideas, and I excitedly began to see the whole project as doable. I ended up painting over many knotty pine walls, transforming my country cabin home into a brighter, airier, more updated space. It was exhausting but rewarding!

Something I couldn’t do myself, and something that my husband did not have the time or ability to do on my timeline, was to redo our small, outdated bathroom. I explored many options to find a way to realize my dream as cost-effectively as possible. I finally succumbed to hiring a contractor through a bathroom design company who could finish the project in a day.

Miraculously, the Lord allowed me to have the funds for the project, which is a testimony in itself. I will say that the promise in Luke 6:38 has become my life mantra: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Over the last few years, I made a commitment to this principle. Not just regarding money, but my time, energies, efforts, and influence. At the time of this home project, it all came back to me just as the Bible promises. That is how I was able to afford the bathroom makeover.

On the day the contractor was to arrive, another Bible promise was fulfilled. The day before his arrival, a representative from the company called me to confirm everything was in order for the project. I had taken time off work to make sure I was there. That was a tricky proposition, given where we live and our work schedules. The person who called told me explicitly that, after our call, she would send an email I had to respond to promptly before the contractor arrived the following day.

In my excitement, I got distracted all day. I never looked at the email until 1 hour before the worker arrived the following day. As I read the email, I was horrified to find the fine print: if I didn’t respond 24 hours in advance, they wouldn't send the worker and would reschedule the appointment!

In my panic, I tried calling the company several times. No answer. By then, it was less than an hour until the scheduled arrival. I was truly anxious at this point. I had paid a hefty down payment, and it wouldn’t be convenient for me to reschedule. Besides that, I was ready to get this done NOW! I called the company again. No answer. Was the driver going to come?

I came to my senses and knelt to pray. I prayed earnestly that my neglect to respond to the email would be disregarded and the worker would come anyway. I live far out in the country, and it’s sometimes hard to get jobs done easily.

I prayed, and I praised. I prayed some more, and I praised God for what I hoped He would do. But honestly, I also worried.

The arrival time was 9:30 am. Around 9:15 am, I got on my knees to pray for the last time. Before I could rise up after saying “amen”, I heard a heavy truck coming up my long driveway. It was the company truck! A friendly man got out and greeted me at my front door. He began an entire 8-hour bathroom renovation that turned out to be just what I wanted!

“And it shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”

Isaiah 65:24 (KJV)

“If you don’t have an appointment, there’s no way you’ll see him,” he told me very confidently. “I am of this faith and even if I were to try to get an appointment with him, it would take a long, long time to get an appointment with such an important man.” “I understand,” I responded resolutely. “However, in prayer this morning, God told me to go and see that man.” The driver studied my face intently. “You’ll never...
