The “100 Hours War” or “Football War” of 1969 was a short-lived war between Honduras and Salvador. Fighting broke out after Honduras beat El Salvador during a World Cup qualifying match in Mexico. How sad this is that whole countries would get up in arms just because their national team was beaten. People overhype competitive sports all the time, making it a bigger deal than it should be. The Bible says in Proverbs 16:32, “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city” (KJV).

Let us seek to live out this verse in our daily lives, and seek to uplift others, and rule our spirits. By God’s grace we can be free from pride, and exercise His gift of longsuffering.
