Did you know that McDonald’s once made bubblegum-flavored broccoli? Unsurprisingly, the attempt to get kids to eat healthier didn’t go over well with the child testers, who were “confused by the taste.”

As human beings, we are often drawn to the things that satisfy our senses, not our needs. We need the nutrients in broccoli, but not the additional calories from French fries—although they sure smell good. Sometimes, we try to make healthy food (broccoli) taste unhealthy (bubblegum).

Call to Action

God created the original optimal diet for man in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:29) to strengthen and invigorate him to do the work God gave him. If one thinks about it, why should we alter or mar something that God has already made perfect? Today, let’s remember to love the food our Creator gave to us, in its natural form, so that we might better serve Him (1 Corinthians 10:31).
