Rachel Veitch, a retired nurse, bought a brand-new Mercury Comet in 1964 for just $3,289. From the first few miles on the road, she faithfully hand recorded the mileage and miles per gallon every time when filling up. The car has gone through 18 batteries, innumerable oil changes, and eight mufflers! Now, the car is worth approximately $12,000. Rachel, who calls the Mercury her “Chariot”, drove the car for a total of 576,000 miles on the original engine, however, at 93 years old, she is now legally blind.1

Do we take care of our bodies the way Rachel took care of her car? The Bible describes them as temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and how much more are we to maintain their purity and optimal function than our car! Focus today on glorifying God with and in your body, and filling your heart and soul with His Word, which will affect the rest of you as well!
