Did you know that almost 95% of a car’s lifetime is spent parked?1 We don’t often think about that, but it’s true! Sometimes, if a vehicle is parked too long, it can’t run and drive as easily as it should with periodic use.
This reminds me of our journey to heaven as Christians. Are we parked too long in a complacent state, not actively seeking to spend our lifetime bringing others to Jesus? Or do we, in our personal lives, cease to drive ourselves to our knees completely, forsaking much-needed time with the Lord? If this is the case, then we are sitting vessels, rotting away our spiritual life and making it harder to wake up and drive away our slumber.
Often, I tend to be a parked car, not using my talents or time to actively seek Jesus or lead others on the narrow way. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ…” (Ephesians 2:4-5 ESV).
May the Lord revive us from our sluggishness or being a parked Christian and make us alive and running to Jesus to do His will.
