To the parents who are praying for the return of their backsliding sons and daughters, be of good cheer. God has heard your cry and here is His reply:

Bible Promises

  • "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jeremiah 33:3).
  • “And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord, and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart” (Jeremiah 24:7).
  • "Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth..." (Isaiah 43:5-6).
  • "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers..." (Malachi 4:5-6).
  • "Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders" (Isaiah 49:22).
  • “Thus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping and thine eyes from tears, for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. And there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own border” (Jeremiah 31:16-17).
  • "And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:16-17).
  • "Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, Or the captives of the righteous be delivered? But thus says the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, And the prey of the terrible be delivered; For I will contend with him who contends with you, And I will save your children" (Isaiah 49:24-25).
  • "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise..." (2 Peter 3:9).

Call to Action

Even now the Lord is working on the hearts of sons and daughters who are in the enemy camp, and they are responding to the Master's call.

Daily seeking sanctification and an abiding presence with God, if parents would pray and not faint and trust God despite the behaviors exhibited by their children, God will deliver in due season.

I remind you as God went after Adam and Eve when they sinned, so God is going after backslidden children with pity. Our Heavenly Father knows the traps that the enemy has set to ensnare them, and with much love He has given His life for them, and He continues to pursue them with His everlasting love.

Jesus gave His life as a ransom for every human being on this Earth, and your children are precious to him. Like Hannah in 1 Samuel, who surrendered her son to the Lord, so you must surrender the lives of your children to Him, even though they may be grown and making their own decisions and no longer under your care. God is able to make the impossible possible. He is able to transform their hearts. Believe and trust God that He will do it!
